London Launch of A World of Prayer

About 40 people were present on Wednesday 29 August at St Ethelburgas Peace and Reconciliation Centre in Bishopsgate for the London launch of A World of Prayer.

The fabulous MC for the night was Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg, one of the Jewish contributors in this prayer book. Jonathan was joined by seven other UK contributors including peace activist Bruce Kent, Muslim activist Amjad Mohamed Saleem, ardent campaigner for Women and the Church Christina Rees, Burmese human rights activist Zoya Phan, Director of Ordinands and priest Patience Purchas, Director of St Ethelburgas Simon Keyes and doctor and co-founder of Medical Aid for Palestinians, Dr Swee Chai Ang.

All the contributors spoke freely and passionately about their favourite prayer in the context of their lives and how it gave them meaning. Rabbi Jonathan came with a friend who sang his passage The Shema.

A World of Prayer was launched by Simon Keyes. Ros also spoke about the book and how the 2005 London bombs had been a catalyst for her interest in interfaith dialogue leading her to be a ‘spiritual pilgrim’.
