Diane Roche is an Intensive Care Chaplain at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney. I first saw her on the ABC TV program Compass (a weekly program devoted to faith issues from across the globe) and was impressed with her low key and caring approach.
Di is a non-denominational Chaplain who helps guide families through the ICU medical labyrinth. I called Di at work one day and made an appointment to see her and was very impressed by her thoughtful, quiet style.
I learnt that Di offers spiritual and emotional support not just to patients and their families but to the staff too. Much needed I am sure.
Di’s contribution is a wonderful and touching Celtic blessing which I have sent to many friends and relatives across the globe. To me the verse hits just the right mark and I am still moved whenever I read Di’s final line about the blessing “…the words comforted me then and they comfort me still.”
